New Ornaments

We are the fortunate recipients of new ornaments for our old tree, again this year!

Christmas 2014 004 From our preschool granddaughter, a new snowflake on our tree.  The pride with which she gave it was palpable, as she watched to see our pleasure upon receiving her work!

Christmas 2014 003Brought by the daughter of our friends and relatives is this very nice glass ornament, reminiscent of the “room sugar’ used in Hungary on the tree.  The “room sugars”, surely still used there, are various kinds of fondant candy wrapped in two layers of paper.  Little boys have been known to eat the candy out and leave the empty wrapper deceptively on the Christmas tree.

The little wooden ornament in the background is one my parents brought from Mexico decades ago.

Interlude

Here is some savored time.

Christmas 2014 002 These are very calm moments between  Christmas and the start of the New Year!  Whether together or apart from loved ones, it is a calm time, when one can relax over puzzle, a book, or handwork, while listening to favorite music.

Christmas 2014 017 This year we tackled a post Christmas puzzle with a rich natural theme, and 750 pieces.   Joe played his new Maria Callas remastered Tosca CDs.  Her voice is out of this world!

Christmas 2014 002 Completed over parts of four days, here is the finished masterpiece; all pieces are here!    We will pass it on to someone who may enjoy it!
